Today I will tell you in detail how to make decorations from fondant. For making fondant, it is best to use white marshmallows, but if you couldn't find them in the store, use colored ones. Most often, they are light pink, green, and yellow. Fondant can be perfectly colored with food coloring. If you don't want to deal with coloring, simply separate the marshmallows by color and work with each color separately, then you will immediately get colored fondant. In addition to marshmallows, you will need powdered sugar, which needs to be sifted several times through a fine sieve to get rid of lumps. Put the marshmallows in a heatproof bowl, add a piece of butter and water. Put in the microwave for a few seconds. As soon as you see that the marshmallows are melting, immediately remove them. The time depends on the characteristics of your microwave. On average, it takes 15-20 seconds. The marshmallows should increase in size and turn into a sticky mass. If this did not happen, put them back in the microwave for a few more seconds. Marshmallows can also be melted in a double boiler, but this will take a little longer.

Stir the mass with a spatula and let it cool slightly. Hot marshmallows will take more powdered sugar than necessary. Gradually add powdered sugar and mix thoroughly. There should be no lumps or clumps. As you add sugar, it becomes more difficult to mix the fondant.

Next, you will have to work with your hands a little. Knead the fondant until it becomes similar to elastic dough. This can be done in a bowl or on a smooth work surface. Sprinkle the surface with a thin layer of starch so that the fondant does not stick. How to make a perfectly thin layer? Buy a pair of nylon socks, wash and dry them, fill one of them with starch and tie it with a knot. If you clap the table with such a bag, the layer will be perfectly thin. Just choose not too dense products with not very fine thread. If you decide to color the fondant, there are several ways to do it. Add a drop of coloring to warm marshmallows and mix. Or divide the already prepared fondant into several parts, and dye each one separately. Just drop a drop of color onto a piece of fondant and knead it with your fingers until it is evenly colored. It is better to do this wearing disposable gloves. Or you can color already ready flowers. It is advisable to put the finished fondant in the refrigerator overnight, but small flowers can be made right away. After cooling, knead the fondant with your hands to warm it up a little and make it more pliable. Now you can make decorations from fondant!

To make the simplest roses, pinch a piece of fondant, roll it into a long cord, then flatten it with your finger or a tool. I prefer using a toy tool from a children's set, but any convenient item can be used. Dust the surface and the tool with starch.

Another way to make roses is to roll out the fondant thinly on a starch-dusted surface. Cut out 6-7 small circles and layer them on top of each other, as shown in the photo. You can use cookie cutters, a small glass, or a suitable lid size depending on the desired flower size. Place a toothpick in the center of each layered circle to mark the center.

Carefully roll up the layered circles into a cylinder. Use a sharp knife to cut along the marked line. Now you have 2 roses.

Gently bend the petals, as if opening a flower. The finished flowers can be spread on a flat surface and left to dry overnight. Then fold them into a box or jar, seal tightly and store in a dry place. This way they will be able to last for several months. As you can see, making decorations from fondant is very easy.
