Apple oatmeal cake

Oatmeal pie with apples

I make an apple oatmeal cake when I don't have time to fuss with classic pies. And it's not just because it's fast. Oatmeal is healthy, but my family doesn't like oatmeal porridge. But when I bake an oatmeal cake, everyone gathers around the table in anticipation of a tea party. To prepare, I simply mix all the ingredients for the dough, layer the cake with apples, and put it in the oven. I don't call anyone to the table, everyone comes themselves because of the aroma :)

Prepare all the ingredients for oatmeal apple pie. Rolled oats are used in the recipe. It is best to take not large flakes. Pay attention to the cooking time of the flakes on the package. Ideally, those that cook for 3 minutes are suitable. They are more tender. If you take flakes that cook for 10-15 minutes, they will be larger and firmer. Yes, they are also suitable for baking, but the pie will have a slightly different texture, more coarse. It is better to use sweet and not too firm apples. The filling with them turns out tender, fragrant, and light. The recipe used 82.5% fat butter, but you can also use 72.5% good quality butter. I do not recommend using margarine for the recipe. It will make the pie more greasy. Preheat the oven at 180 degrees. It needs to be well preheated because the pie is cooked very quickly.

Melt the butter over low heat, add it to the bowl with the dry ingredients, and mix everything well again until all the components are combined. The consistency of the dough will be crumbly, but if you gather it in your hand and squeeze it into a fist, it will crumble well into a ball. When pressing a finger on the resulting ball, it will crumble again into crumbs.

Spread the remaining oatmeal dough on top of the apples. Smooth it over the entire surface of the apples and lightly press it with a spoon. Do not compact the top too much. It is better if it is slightly crumbly. This will make the pie light and tender. Place the oatmeal pie with apples in the middle of a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius. Bake the pie for 25 minutes. The finished pie will have a beautiful golden color.

Slice the pie into individual pieces and serve. This pie goes well with tea, milk, or morning coffee. It can also be served with fresh berries or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Adding a little cinnamon to the apples will give your pie an even more vibrant, rich aroma and flavor. The oatmeal and apple pie is ready. Enjoy your meal!
